1st March 2001 East Penrest

Here are some pictures to show those of you who are interested (and particularly James and Will who aren't here and are worrying about us) what life is like here at the moment.

Since the fields are all empty of stock the dogs are not getting their usual run twice a day as we check stock. I'm longing to walk down to the woods to see if the daffodils are coming out in Underhill. The virus can be caught by deer so I daren't risk it.

The dogs have to make do with a good run in Plat, just above the house. (I'm very sorry for dog owners who don't even have this space to run in).

It's been a glorious day, unfortunately rather cold. The virus spreads faster when it's cold.

Apart from the disruption and the horrible worry you can see that we are all happy.

The bullocks and heifers don't seem to mind being behind bars after spending the winter roaming in the woods.

The hoggs (last years lambs) seem quite content too.

We have had to put sheep netting to stop the hoggs jumping in the silage feeder.

The only unhappy ones are the hens. They are used to going whereever they want, all over the top fields.
